PH06454: REORG WITH INLINE STATS AND COLGROUP DOES NOT COLLECT INDEX STATISTICS WHEN DATA SORT FOR SINGLE COLGR 18/12/20 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• REORG with INLINE STATS and COLGROUP does not collect
  index statistics when DATA SORT for single column COLGROUP is
  performed.
  Typically the job output will contain a message like the
  following one:
  DSNU1388I ... DSNUSITS - DATA SORT REQUIRED
                ESTIMATED SPACE REQUIRED TO AVOID DATA SORT = 23.
                SPACE SPECIFIED BY THE STATCLGSRT PARAMETER = 10.
  and there will not be any message DSNU610I for SYSINDEXES,
  SYSINDEXPART and SYSINDEXSTATS.
  The problem occurs with Inline Statistics only.
  RUNSTATS utility will collect the proper statistics.
  

Local fix

• Run RUNSTATS, or increase the value of ZPARM STATCLGSRT
  so that message DSNU1388I will not be externalized during Inline
  Statistics processing and the data sort for single column
  colgroup will be avoided (DSNU1387I) .

  With Db2 V11 for z/OS with PI74408 / UI49484 applied or Db2 12
  for z/OS with PI76730 / UI51754 applied, when a REORG
  TABLESPACE STATISTICS TABLE COLGROUP INDEX is executed, the
  inline STATISTICS fails to collect the INDEX statistics. The
  message DSNU610I was not issued for SYSINDEXPART, SYSINDEXSTATS,
  SYSCOLSTATS, SYSCOLDISTSTATS, SYSCOLUMNS, SYSINDEXES and
  SYSCOLDIST catalog tables as the catalog tables were not updated
  
  The REORG with inline STATISTICS failed to build the requisite
  control blocks for INDEX processing due to a warning
  return code issued along with MSGDSNU1388I during
  table processing.
  
  This error can also occur during LOAD with inline STATISTICS.
