Error description
WMQ : ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGES FOR REALLOCATION PROCESSING. ADDING MESSAGE COUNTS. . When a cluster channel fails, MQ tries to reallocate messages on the SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE to a different cluster channel if possible. See the following link for more details: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/338313 . The start of this processing is indicated by CSQX191I channel <channel-name> beginning message reallocation The original channel failure message appears after reallocation processing completes. If there are thousands of messages on SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE, reallocation can take hours, and high CPU will be observed in the CHIN job. . This APAR is to request additional informational messages. These messages will be issued frequently during the reallocation processing to indicate how many messages have been identified as eligible to be reallocated and how many of those messages have been completed. . Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): rrmReallocMsgs
Local fix
STOP CHANNEL MODE(FORCE/TERMINATE) is allowed to interrupt reallocation processing.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM MQ for z/OS Version 9 * * Release 1 Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Cluster channel message reallocation is * * automatically started when a cluster * * channel fails, this may take some time * * to complete, however no detail is given * * for progress or completion. * **************************************************************** During channel message reallocation, the processing attempts to move applicable messages to a different cluster channel. If there are a large number of messages on the cluster transmission queue involved, this may take a long time, and quiescing an affected channel may result in CSQX192E. However no messages show the progress or completion of this processing.
Problem conclusion
New messages CSQX179I and CSQX180I have been added to show progress of channel message reallocation periodically and output when reallocation processing has completed. IBM MQ Knowledge Center Updates - The following IBM MQ Knowledge Center pages will be updated -IBM MQ -Reference -Diagnostic messages -Messages and reason codes for z/OS -Messages -Distributed queuing messages (CSQX...) At -https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSFKSJ_9.1.0/ com.ibm.mq.ref.doc/csq_x.html Add the following messages : CSQX179I csect-name Channel channel-name message reallocation is in progress, msg-progress messages of msg-total processed Severity 0 Explanation The channel channel-name is currently in message reallocation and the progression of this processing is msg-progress message processed out of msg-total number of messages total to be processed. System action The channel continues to reallocate messages. This process can take some time to complete if there are a large number of messages assigned to the channel on its transmission queue. An increase in CPU utilization might be observed during this time. Upon completion of the reallocation process the channel ends. System programmer response If reallocation is not desired, for example because the destination queue manager is now available, reallocation can be interrupted using STOP CHANNEL MODE(FORCE). CSQX180I csect-name Channel channel-name completed message reallocation, msg-processed messages processed Severity 0 Explanation The channel channel-name has completed message reallocation processing, and processed msg-processed number of messages during this processing. System action The channel reallocation for this channel has finished the channel ends. System programmer response Determine if messages have been successfully reallocated, and if the channel can be started again.
