Error description

  • In the customer's environment in order for SMTP transmissions to
work, DEST=SMTP must be used on the DD statement. Currently
there is no way to do this. A new statement will be provided
that will allow a DEST to be specified on the ALLOC command
that will be used by EZLESSMT.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The EZLESSMT CLIST (which is called by the EZLEMAIL CLIST)
issues an ALLOCATE command, specifying the WRITER keyword with
the name of the SMTP writer program that was specified on
CNMSTYLE statement COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME or defaulted. The DEST
keyword is also allowed on the ALLOCATE command, but the
EZLESSMT CLIST does not provide a way to specify a value for
that keyword, nor does it include that keyword on the ALLOCATE
    command.

Problem conclusion

  • CLIST EZLESSMT is being changed to retrieve the value for a new
common global variable, EZLsmtpDEST, to be used on the DEST
keyword on the ALLOCATE command that it issues. If EZLsmtpDEST
does not contain a value, or if it contains a value of *NONE*,
the DEST parameter is not specified on the ALLOCATE command.
EZLESSMT is also being changed to recognize a value of *NONE*
for the EZLsmtpNAME common global variable, in which case the
WRITER parameter is not specified on the ALLOCATE command.
Also, the Tivoli NetView for z/OS V6R2M1 Command Reference
Volume 1 (A-N) (SC27-2847-07) should be changed as follows:
     - The first sentence of the Usage Notes in the description of
the EZLEMAIL command should be changed to read as follows:
To use the EZLEMAIL command, you must customize the
         COMMON.EZLsmtpNAME, COMMON.EZLsmtpDEST, and
         COMMON.EZLsmtpHOSTNAME statements.
See APAR OA48877 for the corresponding update to the CNMSTYLE
    shipped sample.
