Error description
When the RENAME option of program HSIZCAT is explicitly selected, processed input data sets are deleted instead of being renamed. When program HSIZIP is used to add additional files to an existing zip archive, the process can abort after reporting I/O errors leaving the previously good archive unusable.
Local fix
For HSIZCAT, do not specify RENAME. RENAME is not currently performed for UMMASK as intended, but is the default action for UMDSN. If required, specify NORENAME to prevent the default renaming action of UMDSN.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IBM Tivoli Asset Discovery for z/OS V8.1 * * customers running HSIZCAT and/or HSIZIP. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The explicit selection of the RENAME * * option for program HSIZCAT leads to * * processed files being deleted instead * * of being renamed. * * * * The RENAME option of program HSIZCAT * * does not apply to UMMASK selections. * * * * When ADD or ADDBIN is specified for * * program HSIZIP, the resultant zip * * archive is no longer usable, even * * if HSIZIP reports a successful ADD. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** HSIZCAT maps the DELETE/NODELETE flags and the RENAME/NORENAME flags to the same internal storage. HSIZCAT does not apply RENAME to UMMASK selections to avoid the potential HSICZCAT problem of creating new HLQs unknown by local catalog and RACF definitions. HSIZIP attempts to load the length from an RDW using an ICM mask of 4 during ADD/ADDBIN processing.
Problem conclusion
HSIZCAT is changed to store the DELETE/NODELETE request status and the RENAME/NORENAME request status in different flags. HSIZCAT is changed to add the RENAME capability to UMMASK selections. Renames will only occur when the last 9 non-blanks of the data set name begin with a '.T' - the 'T' will be changed to an 'S'. HSIZIP is changed to use an ICM mask of 3 to load the length indicator from an RDW during ADD/ADDBIN processing.
