OA45827: IVT5504I ABEND 0C4 OCCURRED IN IVTSMCSD+X'14C' 14/09/11 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IVTSMCSD is scheduled because CSM storage is constrained.
  In the process of cycling through the CSM storage pools,
  an abend0c4 occurs when IVTSMCSD references already freed
  storage.
  Additional symptom:
  SRB loop of IVTSMCSD. SRB of IVTSMCSD points to itself.
  Double scheduled SRB schedule

  ****************************************************************
  This problem may be described as follows:
    1. CSM fixed storage was at constrained level.
    2. Application program issued CSM PAGE_BUFFER request
       with type=page_eligible.
    3. IVTSMCBF received control to process the request.
       It found the CSM fixed storage was at the constrained
       level. It incorrectly checked to see if the side process
       routine IVTSMCSD was running. It scheduled the IVTSMCSD
       in error to page free the CSM fixed storage.
    4. This caused two processes of IVTSMCSD to be running at the
       same time and one of the process received an ABEND0C4 in
       IVTSMCSD.
  

Problem conclusion

• IVTSMCBF has been changed to schedule the side process
  routine IVTSMCSD if only it was not already running.
  IVTSMCSD and IVTSMCFB have been included only for
  maintenance purposes.
