Error description

  • In case applications like GDPS are using a SA-BCPii connection
to perform System z HW operations management, the SA HW
validation function may interrupt such a connection
uncoordinated in order to keep real HW configuration and SA
    stored configuration data in sync.

With this NF fix, a method will be provided to
permanently suppress this SA HW validation behaviour to
synchronize the configuration data. At runtime, SA-BCPii
sessions will no longer be recycled for this reason.

Comments

  • 1. SA-BCPII HW VALIDATION CNTL FUNCTION
    ---------------------------------------

Cmd INGRX815/INGHWSRV was changed to allow set/unset of the new
BCPIIPRIO option. If this option is set to 'GDPS', a SA ACF-
COLD action with a changed processor configuration will no
longer terminate and restart BCPii connections to processors
names when found in the GEOPLEX domain/option definitions. The
    SA.GDPS tower must be enabled.

Internal BCPii management clists INGRX806, INGRVX80 were
changed to check and follow the new BCPIIPRIO flag.

    New messages: ING820I - ING823I
                  DSIING82, ING82

Doc changes: Msg & Codes, Operator's Commands

    2. BLOCK UNWANTED PPT USAGE
    ---------------------------

    Internal clist INGRX810/INGHWCMD was changed.
New validation step is implemented to check that the operator
executing the SA hardware command is *NOT* a PPT task. Some
NetView commands used by SA hardware commands, e.g. 'WAIT',
cannot run under PPT task and will flood the log with messages
like e.g. "DSI198I TASK'WAIT' COMMAND NOT ALLOWED TO RUN UNDER
    xxx TASK ."
If the check detects that the oper id is a PPT task, hardware
command execution will be rejected and a new AOFA0000 error
    report will be issued:
    Command_not_allowed_to_run_under_PPT_task_xxxxx.

    Doc changes: Msg & Codes

    3. INGRX815/INGHWSRV ADD-ONs
    ----------------------------

The diagnostic and service support command has been enhanced.
Beside the BCPIIPRIO option flag, mentioned under 1., the
following new options have been added:

    CONNECT, SUSPEND, RESUME

Doc changes: Msg & Codes, Operator's Commands

    4. SPEED-UP INITCOM
    -------------------

The EC level query for the connected console (SE/HMC) was
removed from the INITCOM discovery logic and placed in the
hardware common command CONDATA, instead. This unilateral SW
action was made in accordance with IBM's action plan to
resolve this zEC12 hardware based performance issue. Module
    INGHWCOM/INGCHW0A/INGCHW0D was changed for this.

Note, that this action can speed-up INITCOM processing for
ProcOps SNMP and SA-BCPii connection, but does not resolve
the root cause in the System z console zEC12 D/T2827 .

    5. INTERNAL FINDINGS

    --------------------

Module INGHWCOM/INGCHW0C was changed to correct the processing
of internally issued session terminations, in cases when these
    terminations fail.

Module INGHWCOM/INGCHW0E was changed to fix the wrong handling
of the security-log event data packet length.

Module INGHWCOM/INGCHW0E was changed to no longer ignore a
sub-set of HwmcaWaitEvent return codes. New msg: ING809I

    6. PREPARATION FOR FUTURE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
    -----------------------------------------------

    Module INGHWCOM/INGCHW00 was prepared.

    7. OTHER
    --------

INGHWCOM/INGHW0VN set to Aparlevel for DISPMOD.

For SA34 only: Module HSAPHCPR of INGHWCOM/INGCHW00 was
auto-compiled by the build system and therefore added
    to fixlist. Reason=macro change.
