Error description
OUTAGE PREVENTION: SA-BCPII MAY CAUSE CSA STORAGE SHORTAGE. FUNCTION ERROR: SA-BCPII HANDLES CAPACITY RECORDS INCORRECT.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All System Automation for z/OS customers of * * the releases V3.3 or V3.4, using the BCP * * Internal Interface function to monitor and * * control the supported mainframe processors. * * All customers of the IBM Service Offering * * GDPS, using functions to monitor and * * control the supported mainframe processors * * with the SA z/OS releases V3.3 or V3.4. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. When the SA for z/OS BCPii function * * terminates a session to the mainframe * * processor support element, HSAET32 * * component leaves 1290 bytes in the CSA * * storage plus additional control blocks * * in main storage causing CSA storage * * shortage. * * 2. Large capacity records available on * * the zEC12 are not completely showed * * by TCDATA command. * * 3. Memory overlay in INGCHW00 Module * * caused by large XML data returned * * by the System z API. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: NetView recycle is required in order to * * apply this APAR fix (SINGMOD1 changed). * * Recycling the NetView Address Spaces does * * NOT free CSA/ECSA storage already allocated * * by NetView: a system IPL is required. * **************************************************************** Module INGCHW0D has been changed to support dynamic memory allocation for XML data returned by the System z API for TCDATA, STPDATA and GETIPSW commands. Module HSAPHCPR has been changed to free HW session storage at the TERMCOM request.
Problem conclusion
Termination of a SA BCPii session removes all session related data from CSA and main storage preventing storage shortage and possible outages. CSA/ECSA gotten prior to fix apply can only be freed by IPL. Dynamic memory allocation allows handling of large capacity records.
