Error description
Abend0c4 in SSI module CNMCSSIW at offset +x'410' due to bad data in canzlog dataspace - CNMCANZ0.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Tivoli NetView for z/OS V6R1 * * and later, including IBM Automation Control * * for z/OS V1R1. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend S0C4 occurs in various address * * spaces in CSects CNMCSSIW or DSI4LWQD * * when the address derived from an * * invalid segment number is beyond the * * range of the Canzlog data space. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** ABS0C4 in various address spaces in CSect CNMCSSIW or DSI4LQWD occurs after the full word at address 10A8 in the CNMCANZ0 data space is set to an invalid Canzlog segment number. This abend can only occur when TINYDS is specified in the first SUBSYS statement containing INITRTN(DSI4LSIT) in parmlib member IEFSSNxx. Such corruption occurs when DSI4LZF processes an AIFR containing a CZID value of 1 in the IFRAUCZID field. This can occur when a foreign message is sent to a NetView operator because of routing codes (and not by console name), and foreign messages are not logged to Canzlog. DSI4LZF considers all CZID values greater than 0 to be valid and stores a value representing a number of microseconds at offset +28 in segment 1 in the Canzlog data space. At a point later in time when that value (a segment number in the LDSMMLADEX array entry 15) is converted to a storage address and used to access data at that address, if the derived address is beyond the end of the data space the 0C4 abend occurs.
Problem conclusion
DSI4LZF was modified so that it considers any CZID value less than 48 to be unusable. This eliminates the corruption of LDSMMLADEX array entry 15 at address 10A8 in the CNMCANZ0 data space which eliminates the S0C4 abend. This change does not remove any existing corrupt values in the CNMCANZ0 data space. The only way to remove such corruption once it occurs is a system IPL.
