Error description

  • I can not run zOSEventSupport_rules.sh to copy file from
    EventPump directory to linux2s390.

When I installed EventPump 4.2.2.5-TIV-EP-FP0005 for eif probe,
I can not run zOSEventSupport_rules.sh to copy file from
EventPump directory to linux2s390. The shell script seems
resolve the directory as linux3s390. It is different with my
previous system. The following is the result after I run
    zOSEventSupport_rules.sh:

    yangshul@glpauto5:/opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/omnibus/etc/EventPump>
    ./zOSEventSupport_rules.sh

    cp: target `/opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/omnibus/probes/linux3s390'
    is not a directory
    yangshul@glpauto5:/opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/omnibus/etc/EventPump>

    SUMMARY OF PROBLEM:
Issues installing the event pump onto SuSE 11 SP2.

Local fix

  • Manually copy the files to the correct $ARCH Directory.

Running zOSEventSupport_rules.sh installation script in Linux
3.x kernel systems leads to incorrect output. Rules files are
    copied into wrong $NCHOME/omnibus/probes/linux3x86 directory.
    Correct directory name is $NCHOME/omnibus/probes/linux2x86.

Here is a snapshot, from the Linux system, illustrating the
    problem:

     ./zOSEventSupport_rules.sh
    cp: target `/opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/omnibus/probes/linux3x86' is
     not a directory

Problem conclusion

  • zOSEventSupport_rules.sh installation script file was updated to
    support Linux 3.x kernel systems.

There is an associated distributed platform update for Tivoli
EIF Probe. This update is in MDV 4.2.2.9-TIV-EP-FP0009,
and can be located on the IBM Tivoli Event Pump support site
    under Downloads.
