OA41397: CUA SESSION CLOSES WHEN PAGING IS SELECTED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• To re-create the problem:
  
  1- Access the CUA monitor and select a CICS region to be
     monitored
  2- On the panel 'Region Status', select PAGING
  3- After pressing "enter" the monitor closes.

  * USERS AFFECTED: All OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS users.      *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. When accessing CUA panel KC2X02D     *
  *                      (Working Set Size and Paging Rates),    *
  *                      the CUA session is terminated after     *
  *                      message KLVDM013 is written to RKLVLOG. *
  *                                                              *
  *                      The CSYS command may display negative   *
  *                      values for the various working set      *
  *                      size fields.                            *
  *                                                              *
  *                      2. If a transaction that does lots of   *
  *                      reads and accesses multiple files,      *
  *                      any detail level information collected  *
  *                      for MQ or database by OMEGAMON may be   *
  *                      incomplete.                             *
  *                                                              *
  *                      3. When using RLIM on a task that is    *
  *                      using CEDF in CICS/TS 5.1, when the     *
  *                      limit is reached the task may abend     *
  *                      ASRA.                                   *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF.                               *

  1. When the Actual Working Set is displayed in megabytes,
     the calculation for the threshold comparison may use a
     non-numeric argument.
  
     The CSYS command may truncate working set size values
     causing them to be treated as negative numbers.
  
  2. When database or MQ detail level information is requested,
     OMEGAMON will maintain an entry for each different database
     or MQ queue accessed by a task, limited to the maximum
     displayable. An incorrect counter may be used, causing the
     number of entries to have a lower limit.
  
  3. An incorrect pointer may be used.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. The Working Set Size and Paging Rates display has been
     changed to calculate the comparand correctly.
  
     The CSYS command has been changed to not truncate
     working set size values.
  
  2. OMEGAMON has been changed to correct the counter to limit
     database or MQ detail level information collected to the
     maximum displayable.
  
  3. OMEGAMON has been changed to not use an incorrect pointer.
