Error description
Receive the following message running the "SECMIGR OPS2RACF,DSIPARM,DSIOPF,SAFDEF" command containing a fully qualified file name greater than 43 characters: BNH134E THE OUTPUT MEMBER SELECTED COULD NOT BE WRITTEN TO OR CLOSED When we browsed the SECOPERS member in the DSILIST PDS, it only contained the banner page, no control cards. We also noticed that the date was truncated on the line where the DSILIST data set was mentioned.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Tivoli NetView for z/OS users of the * * SECMIGR command. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When an optional output file name that * * is more than 43 characters long * * (including the member name and its * * enclosing parentheses) is specified on * * a SECMIGR command invocation, the * * following msgBNH134E is issued: * * BNH134E THE OUTPUT MEMBER SELECTED * * COULD NOT BE WRITTEN TO OR CLOSED * * Contrary to the message the output * * header JCL records are written to the * * file with one or two records truncated * * but with no data records. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** CNME8004 dynamically creates the output records written to the output file but it does not check to ensure the records are no more than 80 columns wide and they are not formatted such that checking is unnecessary. When CNME8004 attempts to write records wider than 80 columns, the EXECIO command used to write the records encounters an error and returns a bad return code. CNME8004 checks the return code and if it is bad, issues the reported error message. The data for that EXECIO request is still written to the output file but records over 80 colunms wide are truncated. Subsequent EXECIO commands are not executed.
Problem conclusion
CNME8004 is being changed to format the output JCL header records such that none of these records will exceed 80 characters unless the maximum data set name allowed by z/OS exceeds 44 characters. Commas were found to be missing in the command help for SECMIGR. Changes to the SECMIGR command syntax should be made in the IBM Tivoli NetView for z/OS Command Reference Volume 2 (O - Z) Version 6 Release 1 (SC27-2848-01) under the SECMIGR command description, in the SECMIGR command syntax diagram as follows: Change the syntax diagram for each of the SECMIGR option syntax diagrams (i.e. Ops2Racf, Spn2Racf, Scp2Tbl, Tbl2Racf, Scp2Racf, Spn2Tbl) to include a comma after the option name. For example: .-DSIPARM-. |-- OPS2RACF--,--+---------+--,-- '-oper_dd-' The online command help is being changed to reflect the above publication changes.
