Error description
The Event Pump source is currently uses VTAM CPname, not FQDN. This requires some customers to implement a post processing step to accommodate FQDN translation. One of them reported during the Event Pump trial that maintaining this translation lookup process was not efficient.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Fully qualified domain name value was * * added into EIF message as a source. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF. * **************************************************************** Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS issues VTAM CPname as a source value in EIF messages. This APAR expands the capabilities of the Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS facility by providing the user with an option to insert the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) value of the running machine into EIF messages. This APAR does not change the behavior of Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS functionality, all features will work as before after applying this fix. The VTAM CPname source values are still supported and issued as the default after applying this APAR. The user should add the EIF_FQDN=YES parameter into master startup parameter member, (GPZPARMS) to enable FQDN. EIF_FQDN has the following format: EIF_FQDN= YES | NO where NO is the default value. If the value of the EIF_FQDN parameter is different from YES or NO, the default value is used. Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS issues a request to the system Resolver to retrieve the fully qualified domain name of the running machine. Make sure that your system and/or application has been properly configured to be able resolve the FQDN. Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS uses the host name for the FQDN value in cases where the request to the Resolver fails. Please see the IP Configuration Guide for more information about system Resolver.

Comments
The following information should be added into Chapter 2. Master address space parameters (GPZPARMS) of Configuration Reference for IBM Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS Version 4.2.2 documentation: EIF_FQDN Purpose Specifies whether the fully qualified domain name will be used as a source in the EIF message instead of VTAM CPname. Syntax +--NO---+ | | >>--- EIF_FQDN= ---+-------+--->< | | +--YES--+ Operand Descriptions NO Specifies to use the using VTAM CPname as a source in the EIF message. This is a default value. YES Specifies to use the using fully qualified domain name as the source in EIF message. Usage Notes If the value specified for the EIF_FQDN value is not YES for NO, the default value is used. This statement is also valid for the event distributor (GTMSRVR) startup procedure in a 3-address-space environment. For the GTMSRVR startup procedure, the data set is specified by the AOPSYSIN DD statement. The following information should be added into Chapter 2. GTM prefix messages of Message Reference for IBM Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS Version 4.2.2 documentation: GTM5610W FULLY QUALIFIED DOMAIN NAME CANNOT BE RESOLVED, USE HOST NAME FOR FQDN Explanation: Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS was unable to resolve the fully qualified domain name of the running machine. System action: Processing continues. Tivoli Event Pump for z/OS uses the host name for the FQDN value in cases where the request to the Resolver fails. Administrator response: Check the configuration of system Resolver. Make sure that your system and/or application has been properly configured to be able resolve the fully qualified domain name of the running machine. Please see the IP Configuration Guide for more information about system Resolver.
