OA40744: KAUWLINK RETURN CODE 8 WHEN STARTING A TCPIP LINK RESOURCE

Obtain the fix for this APAR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An RCF INIT is done to start a TCPIP link from the IRM to SA
  IOM.
  
  'EX KAUWLINK sysid' is the START command for the resource.
  
  The RCF INIT fails, but the only messages seen in the log are:
  
      !AOP0425 EX KAUWLINK
      !AOP0093 EXEC RETURN CODE 8; AOENDCC IS 0
  
  The problem is that an internal "WAIT WTO" command being issued
  by the KAUWLINK exec exceeds the maximum command length of 255
  for an AF/Operator command.
  

Local fix

• Shorten the resource name to less than 8 characters.
