OA40733: RESTORE KDEB_INTERFACELIST TO 6.22.06 (ORIGINAL) BEHAVIOR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• TEMS / Basic Services 6.23.01 and 6.22.07 changed the behavior
  of KDEB_INTERFACELIST. With KDEB_INTERFACELIST=x.x.x.x , that
  is, with KDEB_INTERFACELIST configured having only one device,
  Basic Services does an application-specific bind to that one
  network interface rather than an anonymous bind. Prior to this
  change, only KDEB_INTERFACELIST WITH THE "!" OPERATOR (as in
  KDEB_INTERFACELIST=!x.x.x.x) would result in an application-
  specific bind.  This change in behavior will be removed.  Only
  use of the exclamation operator will trigger an application-
  specific bind to a single interface.

  6.23.01.00 and follow-on APAR IV19595 (in 6.23.02.00)
  changes the behavior of KDEB_INTERFACELIST.  This change in
  behavior may result in product communication failures with
  down-level Tivoli Monitoring products. The behavior change
  is triggered by configuration of KDEB_INTERFACELIST with
  only a single hostname or IP address; when this is the case,
  the product performs an application-specific bind rather
  than the expected anonymous bind in socket operations.  This
  behavior occurs without regard to the presence or absence of
  the exclamation-point prefix ("!") in KDEB_INTERFACELIST
  configuration.
  
  Additional symptoms: The monitoring server will shut itself
  down with no error messages, and you may also see the
  following messages in the RKLVLOG:
  
  Error(s) detected in KDCSSITE(1):
  "IP.PIPE:your.hostname.COM"
  

Problem conclusion

• The code was changed to perform an application-specific bind
  ONLY when the exclamation-point prefix ("!") is used in the
  KDEB_INTERFACELIST configuration.
