    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Some random MVS unsolicited messages *
    * are not processed by the NetView *
    * program. One or more of the following *
    * do not occur for the message: *
    *                      - Automation                            *
    *                      - Satisfying a TRAP and WAIT condition  *
    *                      - Being sent to NETLOG                  *
    *                      - Being displayed                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When module DSI4LZLO looks for unsolicited messages for the
    CNMCSSIR task, it only recognizes Canzlog entries that are
    marked as eligible for processing by CNMCSSIR. However, because
    a Canzlog entry could be in the process of being built when
    DSI4LZLO sees it, it would not be found. When there are no
    entries following it that are ready to be processed, there is no
    problem, as CNMCSSIR would pick up with the last recognized
    entry. However, if there are any entries following it that are
    ready to be processed, the first one is found, and any before it
    that are in the process of being built are skipped, causing them
    to never be seen by NetView.

Problem conclusion

  • Module DSI4LZLO is being changed to recognize a Canzlog entry
    that might eventually be filled in to be something that the
    CNMCSSIR task is interested in, and return that to CNMCSSIR.
    In doing so, it is recognizing when a condition that would
    have existed before the fix was applied no longer occurs, and
    sets a reason code back to CNMCSSIR to notify it. Also in doing
    so, it was noticed that the same "vacant" eye-catcher is being
    used for entries that never will contain something meaningful
    and those that will contain something meaningful. To
    distinguish between these 2 conditions, a new eye-catcher is
    is being set by modules CNMCSSIW and DSI4LA2Z, which module
    DSI4LZLO will check for.
    Module CNMCSSIR is being changed to recognize when a Canzlog
    entry is still incomplete, ready to be processed, or can be
    discarded, when it attempts to process an entry that had been
    saved because it was incomplete. In doing so, it was noticed
    that it's possible to have many more saved incomplete entries,
    so CNMCSSIN is being changed to only allocate 10 entries in its
    array of saved entries, which CNMCSSIR will expand when needed.
