Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All Tivoli Event Pump users using JOBLOG *
    *                 monitoring.                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Add multiple-line messages support to *
    *                      JOBLOG data source.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    Applications can create JOBLOG messages which contain several
    logically connected strings.

    E.g. DFHLG0746 is two line message in the CICS DFHCXRF DD:

    DFHZC5966 I 01/17/2012 06:12:05 DFHF32 RESTORE started for ...
    DFHLG0746 01/17/2012 06:12:05 DFHF32 System log scan trim  ...
               secondary logstream block id X'0000000000000000'.

    Meanwhile JES spool data set is a sequential data set and
    applications can read/write it only record by record. So there
    is no way to identify that any of the records are logically
    connected and belongs to the multi-line message. This APAR
    treats logically connected strings as pseudo multiple-line
    message and processes them based on new parameter specifying
    number of lines to be processed.

Comments

  • New LINE_NUMBER parameter has been added to ZEVENT statement
    which allows customer to define message and event processing.
    New parameter allows customer to specify number of lines to be
    processed.

    The following information should be added to the Chapter 7.
    Monitor file (GTMMON DD statement) of Configuration Reference
    (SC27-4041-00):

    ZEVENT statement

    The ZEVENT statement defines message and event processing.

    ZEVENT entries are defined to create events for exceptions and
    to create events to clear these exceptions.
