Error description

  • SETLOGON START issued by an appl fails with RTNCD = x'14'
    FDB2 = x'61' (decimal values 20 97 ).
    The application was started using a MODEL APPL. Previously, the
    MODEL had VARY INACT, VARY ACT commands issued against it.
    Residual inact flavor (RPRDEFLV) was left in the MODEL RDTE -
    that was copied to the new appl RDTE. This caused the SETLOGON
    to fail.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SETLOGON for a dynamic application *
    *                      fails with (x'14',x'61').               *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The problem is summarized as follows:
    1. There is an APPL major node active which has a model APPL
       statement defined in it.
    2. VARY INACT is issued against the model APPL minor node.
    3. VARY ACT is issued against the model APPL minor node.
       (The deactivate flavor is not cleared at this point.)
    4. An application issues OPEN ACB for a name that matches
       the model APPL statement.
       (The deactivate flavor in the model RDTE is copied to
       the dynamic RDTE.)
    5. The application issues SETLOGON START.
    6. Because the deactivate flavor is non-zero, the internal
       NOTIFY RU fails with sense x'08260000' and then the
       SETLOGON START fails with RTNCD/FDBK of x'1461'.

Problem conclusion

  • ISTACCL1 is updated to clear out the RPRDEFLV
    byte when a model APPL minor node goes to
    connectable status.
