Error description
NetView for z/OS 5.3 EMA install requires files to be copied into the target libraries of another product without using SMP/E to manage the copy. As a result, SMP/E is not managing those files in the other product's target libraries.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All TIvoli NetView for z/OS users of the * * Enterprize Management Agent. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SMP/E is not used to copy the * * Enterprise Management Agent data set * * members from the NetView for z/OS * * target libraries to the Tivoli * * Monitoring target libraries. As a * * result SMP/E has no knowledge of the * * copy operation. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The NetView for z/OS Enterprise Management Agent data set members are required to be in the Tivoli Monitoring target libraries. The low level qualifiers for the Tivoli Monitoring target libraries are TKANMODL, TKANPAR, TKANDATV and TKANCUS. Currently, sample CNMSJ003 performs this copy. However, the copying is done such that SMP/E does not track the members that were copied. There needs to be a way for the members to be SMP/E tracked once they are copied to the Tivoli Monitoring target libraries.

Comments
The new sample CNMSJM14 provides an SMP/E ++USERMOD that copies the NetView for z/OS Enterprise Management Agent members into the Tivoli Monitoring target libraries. As a result, SMP/E now has a record (in the NetView zone) that the EMA members were copied to the Tivoli Monitoring target libraries. If you use this sample to copy the Enterprise Management Agent members, you should not use the statements in sample CNMSJ003 that perform this copy. Use either CNMSJ003 or CNMSJM14 to perform the Enterprise Management Agent member copy, but not both. Note that, if new maintenance is applied to NetView that affects any of the members that were copied, the ++USERMOD needs to be rerun to copy the new members over to the Tivoli Monitoriing target library. To do this, RESTORE/REJECT the current ++USERMOD and then rerun the CNMSJM14 sample (which will RECEIVE/APPLY the ++USERMOD again). Documentation updates: In Installation: Migration Guide (SRL SC31887302): The Sample CNMSJM14 should be added to the New Samples table in Appendix D. In Installation: Getting Started (SRL SC31887202): The Sample CNMSJM14 should be added to the List of Samples table in Appendix C as follows: As Name Data Set Name CNMSJM14 CNMSJM14 CNMSAMP Description SMP/E install a USERMOD (NVUMEMA) into the CSI containing NetView. The installation of this USERMOD will copy NetView's Enterprise Management Agent (EMA) members from NetView target libraries to Tivoli Monitoring target libraries.
