Error description
Host on-Demand -------------- The HOD webstart client fails to start when the HOD HTML parametr hod.Locale is used to override the local langauge settings and the HOD webserver is set to use HTTPS. The HOD client will load, but it fails to prompt for a userid and password which prevents the HOD webstart client from starting. -------------------- Kewords: Webstart HOD ahod.Locale HTTPS userd password
Local fix
The work around for this problem is to use the HOD HTML parameter, AdditionalArchives and set the value to preload the appropriate HOD langauge file. For instance, if the hod.locale is set to English but the native langauge is french, then set the AdditionalArchives with a value of: ha_fr.jar.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Host on-Demand WebStart Client * * from a web site using HTTPS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the HOD system locale is set to * * a language different then the native * * language being used for the browser, * * the HOD webstart client will fail to * * load when HTTPS is being used. This * * occurs when the HOD client fails to * * download all the necessary language * * files needed by Java to prompt for a * * web server userid and password. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: HOd users who download the webstart client * * from a HTTPS enabled server and wish to * * specify a HOD locale different then the * * default browser language setting should * * install this APAR. * **************************************************************** When the HOD system locale is set to a language different then the native language being used for the browser the HOD webstart client will fail to load when HTTPS is being used. This occurs when the hod client fails to download all the necessary language files needed by Java to prompt for a webserver userid and prompt. When the error occurs the user will notice that they have not been prompted by Java for a userid and password during the install of the HOD webstart client. Also, if the webserver log files are examined, an error will be recorded such that one of the HOD langauge files is being denied access because of an invalid userid/password response.
Problem conclusion
The code has been modified so that this problem no longer occurs.
Temporary fix
This problem can be resolved by simply configuring HOD client to always download the missing HOD files. For instance, if this error is occuring and review of the webserver log shows the last file HOD requests is ha_fr.jar and this request is denied because of an invalid userid/password, then add the file ha_fr.jar to the value of AdditionalArchives as desribed below. Edit your HOD HTML files using the Deployment Wizard, on the Page entitled Additional Options, select Advanced Options. Add the HTML Parameter AdditionalArchives with a value of the missing jar file. Press the SET button. Create the new HTML files and deploy to your HOD server.
