APAR status

Error description

  • Customer recorded high CPU utlization on their MS SQL Server and
    found it was primarily due to maintaining indexes on one of the
    largest tables in the DB.  After investigation it was determined
    that the Index is not optomized for the data that it is
    indexing.

Problem summary

  • One index had the top most component as a field that was quite
    volatile, thus requiring a lot of CPU to maintain the index.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The Traveler DB Schema was updated to remove this issue.
