APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After processing a cancellation, the canceled event remains
ghosted on the iOS native Calendar app and the cancel notice
remains in the calendar inbox of the Calendar app as well. This
is a result of the invitation for the event not being processed,
so the cancel notice cannot be processed by Traveler.

This only applies to the iOS native Calendar app.

The user may select "Delete Event" from the calendar or calendar
inbox in order to remove it, but the cancellation will return
during the next sync when Traveler fails to process it.

Local fix

  • If the cancel is for only part of a repeating meeting, the user
can process the invitation for the meeting and then the cancel
will be able to be processed.

If the cancel is for all of the meeting (non-repeating or all
instances of a repeating meeting) and so the user is unable to
accept the invitation, they must hard delete the cancel notice
from their mail db. To hard delete the notice, they must change
the mail preference "When I delete a calendar document
from any Mail view or folder:" to "Ask me if I want to remove or
delete" and then delete the notice. They will be prompted to
"remove" or "delete permanently" and must choose "delete
permanently". After deleting this document, they should change
the mail preference back to "Remove without asking".

Problem summary

  • This problem is only seen when using the Apple built in Calendar
    application.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM Traveler server has been updated to workaround this
behavior in the Apple Native applications.
