LO75987: PROHIBIT UNENCRYPTED DEVICE SETTING IS NOT CAUSING BB10 DEVICE TO BE ENCRYPTED
Closed as program error.
Current BB10 devices are expecting deviceencryptionenabled provision property in order to encrypt device. This is old provisioning property. Traveler is setting the property RequireDeviceEncryption. A BB10 fix is not currently available. This APAR provides a work around by having Traveler set both properties for BB10 devices when the Traveler security setting 'Prohibit unencrypted devices' is enabled for BB10 device and the customer adds the following to their Traveler server(s) notes.ini file NTS_AS_PROVISION_BB10_ENCRYPT_ENABLE=true After setting this notes.ini setting the Traveler task should be restarted and some BB10 security setting changed in the default settings to force the BB10 devices to provision again. Example: turn off 'Prohibit unencrypted devices' in Traveler default settings, save change, then edit and turn setting back on and save again. Another option is to delete account on device and reconfigure.
This is only a problem for very early release of BB10 devices. They were using a depricated AS protocol value for encryption. Newer devices will not see this issue.
Work around for these older devices is to set this notes.ini parameter: NTS_AS_PROVISION_BB10_ENCRYPT_ENABLE=true
This fix is included in Notes Traveler 188.8.131.52 and any future releases. See this technote for the latest Notes Traveler release information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24019529
