Error description

  • Notes Client Standard 8.5.3 hangs when selecting large number
    of documents in a large view. There is a limit in the number of
    documents that can be selected or copy.

    Using SWE's test box it caused the client to crash several
    times.

Local fix

  • Step A: 03/13/13

    1) Shutdown Notes client

    2) Comment out the following lines in the Notes.ini.
    EXTMGR_ADDINS=nqkrem
    NSF_HOOKS=nqkrhkdr
    AddinMenus=nqkrmn.dll

    Unsuccessful.

    Step B: 03/22/2013

    Based on the crash logs using my test box, the database is
    corrupted.

    I reviewed my past emails instructing you to do maintenance on
    the database but did not get the results..

    We like you to do some notes maintenance and have included
    several commands to run on the server console below (best to be
    done before or after server peak times). If you could, please
    have follow these steps.

    1) Have the user shut down their Notes Client

    2) Run these commands on the server console:

    Load Fixup folder\database.nsf -f Full
    Load Compact folder\database.nsf -c -d -i Copy Style - Delete
    Views -Ignore Errors
    Load Updall folder\database.nsf -r Rebuilding Views

    3) Have the user delete their cache.ndk, and then relaunch
    their notes client.

    Unsuccessful.

    Step C: 04/04/2013

    Testing using Double-replace design.

    1. User did not provide the template used. Test by replacing
    design with mail8.5.ntf

    2. Applied double-replace. Unsuccessful, still hangs and crashes

    Unsuccessful.

    Step D:

    Using latest mail database and latest NSD from SWE test, still
    hangs then crashed. Did the customer "exceed MAXWORD number of
    documents" ?

    Same fatal thread using the original sample mail db and fresh
    NSW from SWE test.

    Tested on SWE test box latest sample database. Select All
    Documents then Copy. System hangs then crash. ( Unlike customer
    which only hangs)
