LO40236: SELECTABLE "ROUND ROBIN" AND "FAILOVER" FOR DOMINO SMTP OUTBOUND SERVERS

APAR status

Error description

• The Customer requests an Enhancement for Domino 8 so that
  Domino SMTP outbound servers in the same Domino Named Network
  (DNN) can be easily configured in a "round robin" and/or
  "failover"
  scenario when messages are sent by users with mail files on
  Domino mail servers in the same DNN as the SMTP servers.  This
  
  configuration would override cost/hops/alphabetic listings.
  
  For example, User A, who has a mail file on Server Mail A, sends
  
  two different messages to Internet recipients.  The
  Administrator
  has configured two Domino SMTP servers as "round robin"
  servers (by selecting "round robin" as a choice in the
  Configuration
  document) and one Domino SMTP server as a "failover" server (by
  
  selecting "failover" in the Configuration document).  Both
  "round
  robin" SMTP servers each transfer one of the two messages.  If
  
  both serves were not available, the messages would have
  transferred to the "failover" server.

• No easy configuration (select "round robin" or "failover")
