Error description

  • Its not clearly documented in Infocenter which ports are used by
Traveler and that they need to be open in their firewall.

    It is only mentioned here:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/domhelp/v8r0/index.jsp?
    topic=/com.ibm.help.lnt.doc/Creating_bootstrap_file.html

It could be emphasized better during the planning or install
sections. Here are the details from the technote that was
    written:

    Question:
Which TCPIP ports does Lotus Notes Traveler use?

    Solution:
Lotusᄅ Notesᄅ Traveler uses two ports to communicate between
    server and device:
Port 80 (non-SSL) or 443 (SSL) is used for transferring data
between Domino server and the device. When using SSL, Lotus
Mobile Connect, or another VPN solution, the data is securely
    transferred.
Port 8642 is used for Autosync notifications between device and
server. The data passed on this port is of two types: 1)
checking if the device is available and 2) when to autosync
because of new email or PIM updates.
The Autosync port is configurable from the 'Lotus Notes
Traveler' tab in the Domino Administrator client. If changes
are made, don't forget to update the device configuration too
(via the bootstrap file or 'Settings' in the client).
Both ports need to be available through firewalls or the DMZ if
devices will be connecting from outside your internal business
    network.
