Error description

  • In WebSphere Cast Iron Studio, the first time a user attempts to
execute the 'Invoke Service' activity on a running web
service, it completes successfully without any issue.
The issue occurs when user subsequently attempts to execute
the 'Invoke Service' activity on a running web service, it
will fail with Error message "unknown protocol: project-url".

The following error message is observed:
Exception while processing web service activity. Error
    message: exception during WSDL parsing:
    file:TestORC_Test.wsdl. Caused by: unknown protocol:
    project-url.

Local fix

  • Close the project and open it again. The first attempt at
'Invoke Service' on the Web Services activity does not have
    this issue.

Problem summary

  • In WebSphere Cast Iron Studio, the first time a user attempts to

The issue occurs when a user subsequently attempts to execute
the 'Invoke Service' activity on a running web service, it
will fail with Error message "unknown protocol: project-url".

The following error message is observed:
Exception while processing web service activity. Error
    message: exception during WSDL parsing:
    file:TestORC_Test.wsdl. Caused by: unknown protocol:
    project-url.

This issue only occurs with include schemas but it is fine
    with import schemas.

This is occurring because of the following reasons:
    - The schema location is not properly recorded
    - For publishing WSDL entries (in this case included schemas) it
is using the actual schema from wsdl and updating its schema
location, which is updating the wsdl itself .
