LI77178: PU-LU STATUS REMAINS ACTIVE AFTER NETWORK INTERFACE IS STOPPED

Subscribe

You can track all active APARs for this component.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The value for the idle_timeout parameter is not being honored
and, therefore, outages on the link are not being detected
properly. This is causing the PU-LU status to appear as still
    active.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • LLC2 link fails to timeout if the partner system fails suddenly
(adapter fault or wire disconnect). The link will only then
timeout when an application tries to send data on the link.

Problem conclusion

  • Corrected the idle timer code. The problem was introduced at CS
Linux 6.2.2.0 and does NOT apply to CS/AIX.
