APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Fortran code containing a COMMON block is encountering a
runtime SIGBUS signal because of an alignment exception when
optimization is enabled. The issue occurs because of a
    non-aligned floating point store instruction.

Local fix

  • Do not use optimization.

Problem summary

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Runtime exception because of an unaligned floating point store.

    USERS AFFECTED:
Blue Gene users who do string copies.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler needs to do more analysis, and not assume the
    alignment is okay.

Temporary fix
