Error description
When compiling a very large (10s of megabytes) and complex source file at -O2, the compiler is encountering an internal compiler error due to lack of memory.
Local fix
Do not use optimization.
Problem summary
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The compiler low-level optimizers, 'xlCcode' and 'xlfcode' are running out of memory when compiling large applications with -O2. USERS AFFECTED: Those who are compiling very large applications with optimization.
Problem conclusion
The issue has been corrected by expanding the memory limit of the low-level optimizers.
