APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When compiling very large source files (23,000+ lines) with the
  -Q inlining option, the compiler's memory usage grows and grows
  until an internal compiler error occurs.
  

Local fix

• Remove the -Q inlining option.
  

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  The problem is with overload resolution with a large number of
  template function candidates.
  
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The compiler may run out of memory while processing a large
  number of template function candidates in overload resolution,
  either in a single function body or when attempting to inline
  into a single function body.
  

Problem conclusion

• The process of selecting and instantiating template function
  candidates for overload resolution has been improved so it does
  not require as much processing and memory at compile-time.
