Error description
Some C++ programs can cause the compiler to fail without giving a meaningful error message. e.g.: $ xlC_r -c tc.cxx 1540-0505 (S) The build failed and there are no messages. 1540-0527 (I) The build failure may be because of an Internal Compiler Error or because a tool failed to generate a message. $

Problem summary
Clients who are on Linux based platforms using not-in-charge ctors and dtors (ie bg, cbe, etc), and allowing friend access to private or protected membervariables in a class are affected by this issue. In such cases. the compiler fails with no message, and no indication of what's wrong.
Problem conclusion
The compiler has been fixed by changing the friend access lookup to properly handly not-in-charge ctors and dtors in Linux.
