Error description
You occasionally observe completed business process definition (BPD) instances that are closed yet seem to contain active tasks showing the RECEIVED status. This issue occurs in multiple scenarios, some of which are fixed with interim fixes JR52533 and JR53167, but one scenario requires this interim fix.
Local fix
In the Process Inspector use REST or JavaScript APIs to manually resume the instance. The open task automatically completes.
Problem summary
This problem occurs when the following actions occur at the same time: - The implementation of the activity is running - An attached interrupting event interrupts the running activity Both actions read, modify, and save the task. In such a situation, the outcome depends on the exact timing. Sometimes, an incorrect RECEIVED status overwrites the correct CLOSED status. Problem conclusion
A fix will be available in IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2017.03 that locks the task before modifying it.
