Error description
When you use the Send Alert feature, an email is sent and a task is created in the LSW_TASK table. These tasks are in the Alert state. When the BPMTaskCleanup command runs, these tasks are not deleted. As a result, leftover task instances might prevent process application snapshot from being deleted.
Local fix
Manually call the stored LSW_ERASE_TASK procedure to delete the tasks.
Problem summary
The Alert state cannot be identified as an end state of a task; therefore, you cannot delete tasks in the Alert state when you run the BPMTaskCleanup command. If alerts are sent from a service implementation outside the scope of a business process definition (BPD) or process, the Alert tasks remain in the system, potentially preventing the removal of process application snapshots. Problem conclusion
A fix will be included in IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2016.09 that allows you to run the BPMTaskCleanup command with the "-taskStatus ALERT" parameter.
