Error description

  • In IBM Process Portal, you might receive an error that often
mentions a Dojo timeout for the following actions:

-Clicking the Show More button on the task list in the Work tab
-Clicking the Show More button on the instance list in the
    Processes tab

Actions such as these are completed by using REST API requests
that Process Portal sends to the IBM Business Process Manager
(BPM) server. While most requests should complete within a
specified time frame, allowing Process Portal to display the
retrieved data, some requests might take longer because of
various factors, such as the amount of data to be retrieved,
server and database latency, and network latency.

This shows an example of the REST call that is slow to
complete and the resulting message logged.

    The REST API GET
    /rest/bpm/wle/v1/task?action=getdetails&taskIDs= is used and
    completed after 50 seconds.

While retrieving the tasks' details the following error message
    pops up on the screen:

The request timed out. No data can be displayed.

Problem summary

  • No additional information is available.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.0.1.2 and V8.5.0.1 that adds a
    new Mashups ConfigService property,
    com.ibm.bpm.social.restRequestTimeoutSeconds, that, when set to
an integer representing the number of seconds, sets the default
REST request timeout. Making the REST timeout value configurable
provides additional flexibility so that you can perform
longer-running actions successfully (although the IBM BPM
administrator might still need to look into what causes actions
    to run longer than expected).
