  • When you access a task in IBM Process Portal, a
    NullPointerException (NPE)might occur, which looks similar to
    the following NPE:

Local fix

Problem summary

  • This error occurs on process instances that were started and not
    completed before APAR JR49355 was installed. The error is caused
    by a combination of receiving error events through an
    intermediate error event that were entered before the APAR
    JR49355 was installed and the use of the context.refreshView()
    JavaScript command in a coach view.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.0.1 that handles the
    uninitialized object that causes the NullPointerException.
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search
    for JR52830:
    
    1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
      the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
      level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
    
    2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR52830, and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
