JR52445: MISSING DETAILS NOT TOLERATED WHEN QUERYING INFORMATION ABOUT COMPLETED SERVICES

APAR status

Error description

  • You can retrieve performance data for processes and services by
    using JMX to retrieve data from Process Monitor, which is a
    subcomponent of the IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) server.
    You can use one of the following methods: retrieveMonitorAll(),
    retrieveMonitorAllAsJSON(),  retrieveMonitorByFilter() or
    retrieveMonitorByFilterAsJSON(). These calls can list details
    about the steps of a service, but in rare situations they fail
    and a NullPointerException is logged in the SystemOut.log file.
    

Local fix

  • Retrieve the information without the step details by using
    retrieveMonitorByFilter() or retrieveMonitorByFilterAsJSON(),
    setting the showDetails parameter to ?false?.
    

Problem summary

  • This problem occurs because Process Monitor tries to resolve
    step details of a completed service although the step details
    are already  removed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is/will be available for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0. With the fix
    applied, Process Monitor ignores steps that do not contain
    details.
    
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search
    for JR52445:
    
    1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
      the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
      level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
    
    2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR52445, and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
