Error description

  • Using a gateway for parallel activities,
the event subprocess in a BPD does not work after a token
arrives at an end event while the token for the event
subprocess is still active and waiting for the execution.

When the event subprocess is terminated after a timer is fired,
the token for an event subprocess disappears.

In a business process definition (BPD) that has an event
sub-process and a non-interrupting timer event attached to the
boundary of a user task activity, the timer event is wired to
an end event. If this timer fires, the event subprocess is
terminated when the navigation reaches the end event. Although
the BPD instance is not complete yet, the user task is still
    active.

I see in the traces the token 2 is removed here:

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Event subprocesses are not properly handled when an end event is
processed and are terminated too early even if the BPD instance
    is still in progress.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is/will be available for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0 that keeps the
token of the event subprocess after the timer fires.
