APAR status

Error description

  • When using Process Inspector in the Process Admin console to
terminate/delete instances, if using the "select all" option to
select the queried results, inspector may incorrectly delete
extra instances that are NOT select. If querying with a specific
string filter option, the "select all" feature
terminates/deletes does not factor in the filter options and may
     remove more instance than selected.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Process inspector by design will show the first 20 process
instances only if more than 20 is found. You can select the
check box at the top of the page to select all 20 instances at
once. However there is an option to select all instance queried.
The option following will be shown near the top of the page :
    ?Select all xx rows?.
The problem can be seen when the confirmation screen is
displayed, indicating how many instances were terminated or
deleted. The number shown will be higher than what you have
    selected.
For example, the option only shows ?Select all 100 rows?. These
100 process instances were the ones retrieved according to the
filter options. When terminating or deleting, a confirmation
message will appear with the following text: ?Terminated 200 of
    200 processes? .

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM v8.0.1.2. Process inspector will
now honor the filter options and terminate/delete only the ones
     selected.
