Error description

  • ERROR DESCRIPTION -
Migrating process instances that contain unwired subprocesses or
linked processes that are not ad hoc might return an inaccurate
warning message in the SysOut.log file: ?detected a flowobjects
loop of length=xxxx". Additionally, you might notice performance
    degradation.

Problem summary

  • When instance are being migrated, you might see a similar
warning message appear in the SysOut.log file:

    [11/21/14 11:20:46:392 UTC] 000001d9 wle_migration W
    com.lombardisoftware.bpd.runtime.
    engine.cases.MigrateBPDAdhocActivityInstances
    addAdhocActivitiesFromDiagram
Detected a Flowobjects Loop of length=1020.

    or

    [2/23/15 12:05:52:478 CST] 00018147 wle_migration W
    com.lombardisoftware.bpd.runtime.
    engine.cases.MigrateBPDAdhocActivityInstances
addAdhocActivitiesFromDiagram Detected a Flowobjects Loop of
length=1. FlowObject Id's in this Loop
    are=[BPDObjectIdImpl(...)] .   Current FlowObject is =...,
id=BPDObjectIdImpl(...) . Stopping the precondition cache
    computation for this loop.

This warning is emitted when processes are self-referential or
recursive, meaning that a linked process points to the current
process definition. However, for unwired subprocesses and linked
processes that do not have ad hoc activity support enabled (?The
activity runs even though it does not have an inbound flow? is
set to false), the activity cannot produce ad hoc activity
instances, so updating the precondition cache is unnecessary and
    detrimental from a performance perspective.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.5.0 that excludes unwired
non-ad hoc event subprocesses, subprocesses, and linked
processes when updating the precondition cache during instance
    migration.
