APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If federated repositories is configured in IBM Business Process
Manager (BPM), checking group membership for an IBM BPM user,
for example by using the TWUser.isInRole() JavaScript API ,
might run slowly because Virtual Member Manager (VMM) operations
are performed in scenarios when they are unnecessary.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Checking whether a user is a member of a specific group
requires, as a first step, that all groups that the user is a
member of be retrieved. In addition to querying the IBM BPM
database, retrieving all groups that the user is a member of
also involves retrieving all VMM groups that contain the user.
Performing these actions might be slow and is unnecessary when
the group to be checked is not a VMM group and has no subgroups
    that are VMM groups.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is/will be available that improves the performance of
group membership checks by querying VMM only when necessary.
