JR51261: REST API CALL FINISHTASK DOES NOT PROVIDE VALUE FOR FIELD NEXTTASKID

Error description

  • The finishTask REST API call returns some instance data in its
    reply. The nextTaskId field  is null, although it is supposed to
    contain the ID of the next user task if the finished user task
    has 'autoflow' enabled and there is no other activity between
    the finished user task and the next user task.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • This REST API call finishes the user task, kicks off a new
    thread to go to the next task, and waits for the end of the
    navigation. Because there are two concurrent database locks, the
    thread never finds the next task, so the API returns with
    nextTaskId as null.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.0.1 and V8.5.5.0 that finds
    the next task with only one database lock. The API returns with
    the nextTaskId field completed correctly.
    
    On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search
    for JR51261:
    
    1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from
      the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack
      level, and your platform, and then click Continue.
    
    2. Select APAR or SPR, enter JR51261, and click Continue.
    
    When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download
    the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for
    additional installation instructions and information about the
    fix.
