APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you invoke the REST API for numerous exposed processes, the
API might be slow to return a result.

    PRODUCTS AFFECTED:
IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) Advanced
    IBM BPM Standard
    IBM BPM Express

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The exposed processes REST API always calculates the startURL
value for launching the process, which is required by IBM
Process Portal in IBM BPM. However, the startURL might not be
required for your usage of the API. This calculation is time
consuming. Therefore, when there are many exposed processes, the
calculation can substantially increase the amount of time it
takes to return the set of exposed processes.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.0.0 that adds a new
parameter, excludeProcessStartUrl, to the exposed processes REST
API. By default, or if the value of the parameter is set to
    false ("excludeProcessStartUrl=false"), the API always
calculates and returns the startURL value for each exposed
proces that it returns in the response. If the value of the
parameter is set to true, the startURL values will not be
calculated or returned in the response.
