Error description

  • In IBM Business Process Manager (BPM), you can assign a task
automatically to a particular user and open the user interface
for that task automatically by using the auto-flow feature.
However, when you switch the configuration parameter
"enable-start-bpd-from-uca" to "true", which is set to "false"
by default in 99Local.xml, the auto-flow feature no longer works
for the first task in a business process definition (BPD). For
tasks other than the first one, the auto-flow feature is not
    affected by the "enable-start-bpd-from-uca" parameter.
You can verify that the malfunction in the auto-flow feature is
really caused by this error. For this, set the
"enable-start-bpd-from-uca" parameter temporarily to false and
check whether after server restart the auto-flow feature works
as expected. If not, you might want to double-check the BPD
    details instead.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • This issue occurs because a thread switch inside the workflow
engine disables the auto-flow feature when the
    "enable-start-bpd-from-uca"parameter is set to ?true?.

A fix that changes the workflow engine to separate the start
BPD, the UCA functionality, and the auto-flow feature will be
    incorporated into a later release.
