When the type is java.util.List, an abstract interface is read from the object, even though the object does not have an abstract interface. As a result, the java.rmi.MarshalException is thrown.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available for IBM Business Process Manager V8.5.0.1. After the fix is applied, the correct interface will be called when an import with EJB binding invokes a method containing java.util.List as the parameter type.
