APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When starting up the BPM server, a look-up is initiated for the
user context in which a database lock is inserted into the BPM
database governing access to user and group tables.
This look-up can lead to querying for the server subject -
represented by the server's topological name - in VMM/LDAP.
As such a user does not exist, the call is not meaningful.

Local fix

  • n/a

Problem summary

  • During server start-up an attempt is made to resolve the server
subject in the WAS user registry. If an LDAP directory imposes
a length constraint, querying for the the server subject name
can lead to a constraint violation.

    PROBLEM DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
The server subject name is a computed name identifying the
server in a a cluster topology. It represents the security
context in which during server start-up operations are
performed. Attempts to establish the current user name in this
phase result in attempts to check whether the server subject
exists in the WAS user registry.

Problem conclusion

  • A check was included to establish whether the current security
context implies using the server subject. If so, no lookup is
trigerred in the WAS user registry.
