APAR status

Error description

  • Problem Description: When starting processes using REST API
    /rest/bpm/wle/v1/process with parameter action=start , the
    process is
started successfully when the PA and snapshots are in archived
    state.
When the PA is archived all snapshots become inactive and the
    exposed
BPDs should no longer be accessible. This scenario should be
    blocked.

Local fix

  • .
The change is to modify the following value
LSW_FAVORITES.EXPOSED_PROCESS_TYPE . If the BPD is set to
    exposed at
startup , it will have a value of "0" . Remove this entry and
    it will
    no longer show up.
    .
However, there is also another scenario in which the PA will get
    added
    to
the list , which is when LSW_FAVORITES.ITEM_TYPE is "1","11" or
    "13" .
I would imagine since the PA is archived and no longer needed,
    then
these values won't matter. However, this is not a recommended
    workaround
since it involves manually modifying DB content.

    ****************************************************************
There are multiple ways to start a process instance.
One way is to use the /rest/bpm/wle/v1/process REST API with
the action=start parameter. Another way is to use Process
Portal to start the exposed BPD. Both of these ways start a
process instance for a process application snapshot that
    has been archived.

Problem conclusion

  • With the fix applied, process instances cannot be started for
    process application snapshots that are
archived. A fix for IBM BPM V8.0.1.1 is available on Fix
    Central:
