APAR status

Error description

  • LUA application issues INITSELF but does not receive a BIND from
    the PLU application. An NSPE flows reporting a 08010000 from
    the PLU host because a previous PLU-SLU session was not cleaned
    up and therefore still active.

Local fix

  • clean up all sessions manually on the appl. host.

Problem summary

  • * USERS AFFECTED:
    * All users of DLUR where the host application resides on
    * a different node than the SSCP.
    *
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * Unable to activate a DLUR LU-LU session (receiving NSPE
    * with sense 08010000) after a session was terminated
    * with TERM-SELF (from an LUA appplication using
    * RUI_WRITE) after the SSCP had been taken over after the
    * LU-LU session had been activated and the new SSCP was
    * not the PLU.
    *
    * PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    * After a DLUS takeover/giveback while a LU-LU session is
    * active with a host application residing on a different
    * node than the SSCP, the DLUS does not have enough
    * information to contact the host APPL to UNBIND the LU-LU
    * session. When the local application issues a TERM-SELF,
    * the DLUS is unable to contact the host APPL to notify
    * it to send an UNBIND but does send DACTLU and ACTLU to
    * the DLUR. The local application, later issues INIT-SELF
    * to begin a new session but the DLUS sends an NSPE with
    * sense code 08010000 indicating that the host APPL is
    * still in session.

Problem conclusion

  • Internal code has been altered to issue an UNBIND
    type 0x09 (Hierarchical Reset) when DACTLU 0x01
    (normal) is received on a DLUR LU when the LU-LU
    session is active.
