APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Communications Server for Windows
    ---------------------------------
When an SSCP takeover occurs, some TN3270 printers lose
    connection with the server.

Local fix

  • Restart the printer connection.

Problem summary

  • If a printer application is using an LU but is not in
session (not bound) and an SSCP takeover occurs, then when a
warm ACTLU is received (and a cold ACTLU RSP is sent) an error
is reported to the printer application, disconnecting the
printer. The printer application can re-connect.

This problem affects all printer LUs, whether connected by
    TN3270 or API.

Problem conclusion

  • This error is not necessary to report, because the printer is
not interested in the SSCP "MSG 10" or "start of day" screen.
Code has been changed for printer LUs to not treat the warm
    ACTLU as a reset.

This change has no effect if the LU is active in session or if
it is not a printer LU.

Temporary fix
