APAR status

Error description

  • In a topology where IBM Business Monitor Version 8.0 and
    WebSphere Process Server (WPS) Version 7.0 are in separate
    cells, table-based routing from WPS to Monitor does not work
    (queue-based routing does work).
    

Local fix

  • None (must configure queue-based routing).

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    IBM Business Monitor Version 8.0, which is based on WebSphere
    Application Server (WAS) Version 8.0, is not compatible with
    WAS Version 7.0 (upon which WebSphere Process Server (WPS)
    Version 7.0 is based).  Specifically, table-based routing (as
    opposed to queue-based routing) requires Monitor plugins that
    reside in the WPS cell; these plugins are not compatible with
    WAS V7.0.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A new Monitor plugin that is compatible with WPS Version 7.0
    has been created.
    
    An interim fix for IBM Business Monitor Version 8.0.1.0 (that
    includes the new plugin) has been published to Fix Central.
    Please refer to the separate file that is automatically
    downloaded with the interim fix for prerequisite information
    and installation/uninstallation instructions.  (NOTE:
    As documented in the readme, after setting a custom Java
    Virtual Machine property to complete the interim fix
    installation, deployed monitor models can only be configured
    to use scalable event processing.  Monitor models that do not
    support scalable event processing will not be able to process
    events.)
