APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A business user is unable to save a promotion which contains
  long public promotion codes or a large number of public
  promotion codes. These codes are saved to the PX_PROMOTION.CODE
  column with a delimiter separating each code. This column has a
  limit of 128 characters and is unable to hold the data when this
  limit is exceeded.
  

Local fix

• Customer can increase the size of the column as a temporary fix

  create promotions
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  A business user is unable to save a promotion with a large
  number of public promotion codes because the combined length of
  promotion codes exceeds the 128 character limit of the
  PX_PROMOTION.CODE column.
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  Unable to create a promotion with a large number of public
  promotion codes.
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• A flag called "PopulateCodeColumnOfPxPromotionTable" is provided
  in the promotion component configuration file
  (wc-admin-component.xml). This flag has a default value of
  "true" which keeps the default behavior of populating the
  PX_PROMOTION.CODE column with the public promotion codes in a
  promotion.
  Setting this flag to "false" will no longer write the public
  promotion codes to the PX_PROMOTION.CODE column, and any queries
  that rely on the data in this column will use the data from the
  PX_PROMOCD table instead which allows one code to be specified
  per database row.
